This rum from Trinidad is produced by the same company that manufactures Angostura aromatic bitters that originated in Angostura, Venezuela over 170 years ago. Angostura 1824 celebrates the tradition of excellence established by the house of Angostura almost two centuries ago. The rum is hand casked, hand blended and hand bottled after twelve years of maturation in high toast oak barrels. This is an extremely smooth yet rich spirit and a departure from the lighter rums Angostura is known for.
Tasting note: Bright copper colour with a pale copper hue. The multi layered nose reveals top notes of pistachio nuts, vanilla and spice, then more profound, heavier scents of stewed stone fruits, creme-caramel and a whiff of brandy sauce. A sumptuous palate delivers a combination of banana cake, vanilla / chocolate fudge and all spice, refreshed by some orange zest and pine notes. Superb balance and mouthfeel. Very long aftertaste of vanilla bean, raisins and spice. A powerful yet elegant Angostura expression. 40% Alc./Vol.
